Miri
Prior to Miri joining us in November 2022, she was with the HBDHB Outreach Immunisation Team and at that time, she worked very closely with our own Hauora Team here.
Miri was asked if she had an important message for whānau or the community, about what she can do for them in her role/position? Miri's feedback was, "I'm here to support and help however I can, and to navigate whānau to the right services, to the best of my ability".
Outside of mahi Miri loves going for walks with her dogs; travelling the motu (Aotearoa); visiting her whānau (especially her parents and siblings); Kapa Haka; and anything to do with Te Ao Māori.
Miri's greatest achievement to date is her career! Miri never thought she'd ever be working in/with a Health Board or Māori Health Organisation as prior to this she was in factory or fast-food mahi. Miri is eternally grateful to her partner, whānau and friends for their help and support. Miri soaked up their knowledge and gave this new exciting opportunity 'a go', and now she feels like she's winning!
