Ponti enjoys having the ability to give back to the community and helping whānau within his role. He said not to be whakama, find the strength to ask for help whether it is big or small. He is passionate about guiding whānau to navigate through their needs and hard times.

Outside of mahi Ponti enjoys diving, hunting, sports and kai. His biggest achievement in life is fatherhood.

Ponti has NCEA Level 1 and 2, 4WD off road Certificate and a First Aid Certificate.
